Resumen

COLOMA GONZALEZ, Itziar; GARCIA SANCHEZ, Juan; MENGUAL VERDU, Encarnación  y  HUESO ABANCENS, José R. Vasoproliferative tumor of the retina secondary to intermediate uveitis after Yag-Nd capsulotomy. Rev Cubana Oftalmol [online]. 2007, vol.20, n.1, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3070.

Clinical case presentation: a 59 years-old male patient who developed vasoproliferative tumor in his left eye during reactivation / worsening of intermediate uveitis after a Yag-Nd posterior capsulotomy.  His evolution was positive with elimination of the inflammatory process, partial tumoral regression and complete recovery of visual acuity. Discussion: Vasoproliferative tumors (VPRT) are benign gliovascular proliferations of unknown origin that may occur separately (VPRT 1o) or associated to other chorioretinal diseases (VPRT 2o). Its natural course is quite variable going from spontaneous inactivation to rapid progression with serious complications that affect vision. Therefore, they do not always require treatment  but good follow-up is recommended as essential

Palabras clave : vasoproliferative tumor of the retina; acquired retinal hemangiomas; benign retinal tumors; intermediate uveitis; Yag-Nd capsulotomy.
