In the article a conceptual model for effective and proactive management of knowledge through the proposed observatory. It is based on critical analysis and statistical processing of more than 100 models of knowledge management and intellectual capital. Five studies conducted for the purpose and is complemented by a review of work done in Cuba on the subject with emphasis on doctoral theses 26 are taken as references. It is determined that more variables are present in models: the processes through which develops; the key factors to be precisely the essential basic components; the need for accessible information, relevant and reliable; and training for effective management of knowledge management. limited use or presence in the scientific results Observatory studied as repositories and tools for managing knowledge, regardless of their importance and development achieved today is appreciated.
