Resumen

MEDINA-MACIAS, Arianne et al. Key competencies for teleworking in professors of a Cuban higher education institution. Ing. Ind. [online]. 2021, vol.42, n.1, pp. 78-93.  Epub 04-Mayo-2021. ISSN 1815-5936.

In times of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), teleworking has expanded in Cuba. The objective of this research was to determine the key competencies associated with teleworking in professors of a Cuban higher education institution. The Teleworking Questionnaire was used, applied to a sample of 43 teachers, including bosses. The technical domain of the work content, planning capacity and discipline and self-control, constitute the most relevant competences for teleworking in teachers. In bosses, the most relevant are work planning, effective guidance to subordinates and work organization. The identified key competencies can be considered generic for any type of teleworking occupation. In conclusion, telework requires competences and this context is an opportunity to develop them into teleworkers and bosses. It is a new form of work organization in Cuba, which demands a re-conceptualization of its influencing factors.

Palabras clave : Teleworking; job competences; COVID-19; university professors.
