Professional motivation and the concern problems to the election of the profession acquire relevance because of the need to instruct professionals of lofty quality that can take actively participation in political, economic and social development of a country. The investigation permitted to characterize the motivation in students of the Pre-University Ernesto Che Guevara of the municipality of Rodas. It evidences its limited development that is reduced to basic premises, being representative the level IV of development of professional motivation, where auto-appraising components and future projection presented the bigger limitations and it proved to be the affective component with the more discriminatory opinion. They show however levels made suitable in the potential of motivational professional development, once the deficiencies in the system of vocational guidance were given and not in the young's psychological development. It is recommended the engaging of professors and parents in a strategy of vocational guidance in correspondence with the institution's needs.
