The use of problem-based learning (PBL), unlike other every day and reproductive methods, promotes innovation in the teaching-learning process and the development of professional, social and personal competences in Higher Education. The objective of this study was to analyze the level of knowledge reached by the students of the pedagogy of physical education at the Technical University of the North (UTN), from the implementation of the ABP in the subject of Physical Education Teaching, curricular unit methods and styles of teaching in physical education. The research methodology was quantitative, descriptive and longitudinal; a questionnaire was applied as an instrument that collects information about the didactic strategies of physical education. The results reveal that the students, to whom this method was applied, improved their knowledge from a regular to very good level in relation to the definitions of: didactic strategy, method, technique and didactic procedure, phases of reproductive and productive methods; conception of the roles of the teacher and the students in the application of traditional and innovative strategies.
