At present, creativity is a social task given to educational systems for its value in the intellectual development of the 21st century citizen. In this article, an analysis of the most representative approaches to the study of creativity is made. The importance of its development in Elementary School is addressed, taking into account that school age is one of the fundamental stages for the child development in the intellectual and affective-motivational area, which is of great importance in later stages and the results of an exploratory study carried out in the Juan Pablo II Educational Institution of Santiago de Cali municipality, Colombia, are presented, where document analysis was conducted. Interviews with executives and officials, and classes were observed by teachers to see how they foster the creativity development in their students.
