MOLINA GUTIERREZ, Teresa de Jesús; CHAMORRO VALENCIA, Diego Xavier y BURBANO GARCIA, Lenin Horacio. Written production of the degree project: characteristics of the expository text. Conrado [online]. 2022, vol.18, n.86, pp. 239-247. Epub 02-Jun-2022. ISSN 1990-8644.
Expository texts constitute a fundamental typology in the development of the degree project, they are complex and represent a challenge for university students. The aim was to describe the cohesion features present in the types of expository texts used in the development of the degree project. Descriptive research and discourse analysis were used; the linguistic corpus consisted of 15 undergraduate papers (2020-2021). The data collection instrument was a descriptive matrix; the data analysis technique was content analysis. Most of the expository texts present weaknesses in the use, reformulations, explanatory appositions, lexical precision, use of modalizers, endophoric resources, abundance of formulas with stylistic values and few closing resources, which affects textual coherence. Features such as the use of text organizers, use of canonical word order, present indicative, specific adjectivation are well achieved.
Palabras clave : Expository texts; graduate work; textual cohesion.
