Resumen

MEJIA HERRERA, María Luz  y  SALINAS RAMOS, César Miguel. Latin America: between transculturation and interculturality. Conrado [online]. 2023, vol.19, n.92, pp. 155-164.  Epub 30-Jun-2023. ISSN 1990-8644.

This article works on linking the transculturation category of Cuban Fernando Ortiz and intercultural philosophy, to understand the historical processes that characterize Latin American societies and their possible emancipatory transformation. Starting from the critique of the concept of acculturation, the main category of traditional anthropology as insufficient to understand the relationship between diverse cultures, the concept of transculturation is proposed, which allows the visibility and inclusion of traditions, peoples and ethnic groups that have been invisible, oppressed and exploited throughout the history of our societies and excluded from the formal construction of modern Republics. In this sense, interculturality promotes the search for a dialogue between diverse cultures for the reconstruction of our states and democracies. The methodology used in this article is the review of classic texts and academic content.

Palabras clave : Transculturation; Interculturality; Emancipation; Dialogue.
