The suspension of parental authority for unjustified abandonment is an exceptional legal measure that is adopted in extremely serious cases, where the parent deliberately and unjustifiably fails to comply with their parental obligations. The decision to suspend parental authority must be supported by objective, clear and conclusive evidence that demonstrates the abandonment of the minor and the impossibility of restoring the parent-child relationship. Therefore, the present study aims to provide a clear and complete understanding of the legal processes related to the suspension of parental authority due to unjustified abandonment, in order to guarantee the protection of family ties and the best interests of the minor. For this, a qualitative and analytical approach was used, based on bibliographic research to identify the legal and jurisprudential criteria for the suspension of parental authority due to unjustified abandonment. In addition, the impacts that the suspension of parental authority may have on the life of the minor and his family environment are analyzed. With this, pedagogical strategies are proposed to educate and sensitize society about the importance of contributing to the protection of the rights of minors and the parent-child relationship.
