The financing model for contributory pensions for old age in Mexico granted through the main social security systems is individually funded, so each person who contributes throughout their working life to create their own fund for that stage of life assumes the risks that this implies. The objective of this research was to evaluate the management efficiency of investment companies specialized in retirement savings that were designed for younger workers. The evaluation was made based on the performance and risk of the investment companies in the period between December 2012 and November 2019. It was determined that the behavior of the investment companies specialized in saving for the retirement analyzed was diverse and that greater volatility does not necessarily imply greater yield or that it entails more efficient risk management.
