The aim of this work was the review of three articles disapproving in an implicit manner the use of the calcium channel blockers, making them responsible for a significant increase of cardiovascular mortality. The articles were discussed, compared with other results from investigations related to these drugs, and it was demonstrated that what was found with the short action nifedipine is not applicable to other calcium channel blockers. It was concluded with propositions of more efficient and safe drugs from this pharmacological group.
