GONZALEZ CORTINAS, Modesto; VIDAL GONZALEZ, Durlan; CEPERO CORDERO, Jesús  y  LASHLEY OLIVERAS, Magdalena Leysis. Dengue hemorrágico: Estudio clínico de 200 pacientes. Rev cubana med [online]. 1999, vol.38, n.1, pp. 13-18. ISSN 1561-302X.

The clinical behavior of 200 patients with dengue hemorrhagic fever admitted at the Special Care Ward during the epidemic in Santiago de Cuba, in 1997, was analyzed. It was proved that this disease appeared mainly in young patients aged 15-39. Asthma was considered as an antecedent in 16,5 % of the cases. The commonest symptoms found were: fever, cephalalgia, asthenia, abdominal and retro-ocular pain, arthralgia and myalgia. Hepatomegaly was observed in 49,5 % and ascites in 32,5 %. The most frequent hemorrhagical manifestations were the positive loop test, concurrent petechial eruption, and metrorrhagia. Thrombocytopenia was detected in 141 patients. Polyserositis was the most frequent finding in the ultrasound diagnosis. Some electrocardiographic alterations were described.

Palabras clave : DENGUE [epidemiology]; DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC FEVER [epidemiology]; DISEASE OUTBREAKS.
