Resumen

SANCHEZ VALDIVIA, Alfredo  y  SANCHEZ PADRON, Alfredo. Humoral markers in severe sepsis. Rev cubana med [online]. 2006, vol.45, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-302X.

Sepsis is the leading cause of death in non-coronary units and one of the main causes of deaths in hospitalized patients. Tens of bioactive molecules that are circulating or associated with the cells have been proposed as useful markers of the presence, severity, or clinical course of sepsis, based on their prevalence in patients with this clinical syndrome, or on their association with an adverse clinical prognosis. The main markers that are being studied and used were reviewed with the hope to guide our therapeutical strategy in a field so obscure and complex as severe sepsis. The compulsory interrelationship between physiopathology and therapeutics offers the chance to identify our ideal strategy at the right time in each patient, with the subsequent saving of time and economic resources

Palabras clave : Sepsis; severe sepsis; marker; mediator.
