Arterial hypertension has an special importance due to its place in the mortality and morbility rates of the country and to its association with stress and lifestyle as psychosocial modulators (PSM), which determines the involvement of a psychologist in the multidisciplinary group in charge of coronary risk factors in "Dr. Julio Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine. Experiences in 52 hypertense patients were analyzed. We detected a behavioral pattern A or some of its components by 98 %, they were linked to a poor use of leisure time and other factors inherent to lifestyle. Such results require anti-stress psychological intervention for which patients are informed of the effect of PSM on their health; they are taught a relaxation technique to be practiced (Benson) and they are told how neccesary the therapeutical compliance with the directions given by the members of the multidisciplinary groups is.
