Resumen

NODARSE HERNANDEZ, Rafael  y  IGLESIAS DUQUESNE, Magaly. Design of a surveillance system of bacterial resistance at "Dr. Luis Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine. Rev Cub Med Mil [online]. 2008, vol.37, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1561-3046.

We designed a surveillance system of bacterial resistance for its application in "Luís Díaz Soto" Higher Institute of Military Medicine, in order to have a mechanism capable of controlling it. The design included all the elements that are indispensable in a health surveillance system: data entry based on the results of antibiograms of strains isolated from admitted patients; information processing, with the location by wards and samples of identified microorganisms, the calculation of resistance percentages and the output of the results expressed in the forms created to allow the users to have the necessary data to indicate treatments and to make decisions to face the increase of resistance, as well as the feedback through the suggestions made by the users for its improvement. It was possible to design a system that permits to detect the increase of resistance and that contributes to control the use of antibiotics.

Palabras clave : Surveillance of the bacterial resistance; bacterial resistance; health surveillance.
