The present paper deals with the experience acquired during the implementation of Radiation Safety and Protection Program for the safe operation of a plant for production of isotopes such as the Isotope Centre. Considering the importance for the radiology community of that experience, this paper presents the evolution of requirements for this program and provided valuable experience that can be useful for other centres in Cuba and Latin America with similar radiation hazards during the use of radioactive materials.
