Resumen

RODRIGUEZ GONZALEZ, Lucitere; CUELLAR MARRERO, Ana Cristina  y  MOLINA GOMEZ, Ana María. Textual edition quality: a challenge for Cuban medical publishing houses. ACIMED [online]. 2009, vol.19, n.4, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1024-9435.

Over the last decade Cuban medical journals' publications have significantly increased. Since mid-90´s, their presence in informed website improved its accessibility and visibility at national and international level, being more necessary than ever to achieve the best textual quality. However, despite the large amount of works published about this subject, the articles edited in Cuban medical journals still present significant problems. Misprints are usually found in the final product of every editorial process; but this is not the case when we speak of mistakes caused by carelessness, ignorance, or excessive tolerance. This work present some deficiencies founded in 80 case reports randomized selected in medical journals from 2003 to 2007, organized in different sections. Old mistakes still persist regarding spelling, anglicisms among others. The edition of Cuban medical journals demands a serious reformulation of editors´competences, as well as the creation of better instruments to measure, assess and control their editorial quality.
