A descriptive , restrospective and longitudinal study was performed in patiens admitted with suspicion of ectopic pregnancy in "Ana Betancourt de Mora" Gynecoobstetric Provincial Teaching Hospital of Camaguey in 1996 so as to prove the effectivenessof diagnostic means of this entity. The primary datum was obtained from the Register Book of the Operation Room, Clinical Records were reviewed and these patients were interviewed directly, transferring the information to a survey ellaborated for this purpose. Data were processed thoroug an I.B.M compatible computer using the MICROSTAD statistic system. It was obtained dsitribucion and frequency and contingency tables . 119 ectopic pregnancies were diagnosed, 64, 70% of the patiens ranged from 25 to 34 years old? they had more than delivery as obstetric history. The predisposing factor with higher incidence in the ocurrence of the disease was pelvic inflamatory disease with 41, 18 % folloved by IUD use in 37, 82 % and the antecedent of the carriers of this pathology . The main symptom referied was pelvic pain in more than 98, 32 % as well as mestrual disorders in 81, 52 %. Anexial tumours nad painful abdomen prevailed in the physical examination . Culdocentesis had high effectiveness as diagnostic method is the broken ectopic pregnancy . Ecography shoved important anexial images which coincided with laparoscopic finding in 83, 33 % and 57, 5% corresponded to non accidental ectopic gestations.
