LUIS MALCOLM SUAREZ, Adolfo. Births in the extremes. Contribution of two clinical cases. Multimed [online]. 2020, vol.24, n.6, pp. 1396-1407.  Epub 04-Nov-2020. ISSN 1028-4818.

Introduction:

childbirth is considered a physiological event and is received, in most cases, as a gift granted to the female sex. Both anticipating and delaying childbearing has become a common phenomenon in the developed world, and is the result of social, educational, and economic factors.

APP: low weight and prematurity. Total labor time: 9 hours. The second pregnant woman, 58 years old, 40.5 weeks old, was admitted to the hospital delivery room due to DBV and loss of phlegm. Accompanying preference: her husband. Behavior during labor: Regular. Total labor time: 10 hours.

Discussion:

it is estimated that approximately fifteen million adolescents give birth each year in the world, that is, they are responsible for 10% of all births worldwide, a figure that increases in developing countries, since It is estimated that in these countries adolescent births correspond to 17%.

Conclusions:

both patients 40 years of age and older, as well as early adolescents, have an increased probability of similar complications, such as: cesarean section and twice the risk of prematurity than that reported for the general population that receives medical care in our unit.
