Resumen

ALVAREZ MORA, Denis et al. Mathematical models applied to Epidemiology. Multimed [online]. 2021, vol.25, n.1  Epub 01-Ene-2021. ISSN 1028-4818.

A mathematical model is a mathematical description (often by means of a function or an equation) of a real-world phenomenon, such as the size of a population, the life expectancy of a person at birth, or the spread of an epidemic. To see the importance of these in Health Sciences, specifically in the specialty of Hygiene and Epidemiology, we show two of them to predict the behavior of epidemics. We expose the first through a 1st order differential equation and the second through a system of differential equations.

Palabras clave : Mathematical model; Hygiene and epidemiology; 1st order differential equation; System of differential equations.
