To argue how the teaching of automation influences from the CTS approach is the fundamental objective of this work. It exposes the social responsibility of the university in the training of the professional of science and technology. Technological alternatives are analyzed as a strategy to achieve sustainable development. Important aspects to be considered in the Chemical Engineer's Curriculum are considered from their professional profile.
