Resumen

LUNA NEMECIO, Josemanuel. Sustainability versus environmental emergency: urban-industrial corridors as a factor of water conflicts in the state of Morelos, Mexico. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp. 90-100.  Epub 02-Abr-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

The processes of urbanization and industrialization of the territory have led to various scenarios of environmental emergency because the construction of urban space in contemporary capitalism is characterized by high consumption of biomass, materials, water and energy. In addition, cities and large industries stand out for generating solid waste pollution and the excretion of toxic agents into the air, soil or water. In the current scenario, the present study aimed to conduct a territorial study about the production of urban and industrial corridors in the state of Morelos as a cause in reference to the presence of water conflicts that arise in the context of an environmental emergency in those municipalities, where the industrial parks installed and projected for the entity are located, as well as in reference to urbanization and urban speculation. The study concluded that the configuration of urban-industrial corridors in the state of Morelos, and the ecological unsustainability they generate, is a factor that encourages the appearance of water conflicts.
