MATOS CEBALLO, José Jesús; MULLO ROMERO, Esther del Carmen; JUANES GIRAUD, Blas Yoel  y  ALVAREZ HERNANDEZ, Isleidy. Management in tourism and its experiences in Latin America. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.5, pp. 649-658.  Epub 30-Oct-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), within the framework of the Millennium Goals for Poverty Reduction, promotes policies with benefits for low-income people who live in communities that are dedicated to developing tourism through: tourism micro-enterprises , direct sale of goods and services to visitors (informal economy), creation and management of tourism businesses by “comuneros” in the form of MSMEs or community-based businesses, tariffs and taxes on income or profits from tourism, donations and voluntary support of tourist companies and tourists; investments in infrastructure that, stimulated by tourism, benefit the entire community. This article refers to its development in Ecuador. The methodological trajectory included a bibliographic review on the topics related to the research. The results that are collected in the article are considered novel, among which are: the creation of a comprehensive participatory management system for community tourism based on the cultural diversity and the development of a system of multidimensional indicators supported on a computer platform, which represents a tool for the measurement and planning of local community tourism, based on the use of endogenous and exogenous resources in conjunction with the articulation of local actors.
