Resumen

MALTA LUNA, Juan Joseph. Political science as a protoscience of economics: “feet of clay”, according to Sartori. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.6, pp. 562-573.  Epub 30-Dic-2022. ISSN 2218-3620.

The quantitative method of political science has impoverished its contributions to experience and political power. How to unveil the consequences of such impoverishment? Where is political science headed? A response to the debate is added by: Giovanni Sartori, David Laitin, César Cansino and Enrique Gomáriz. As a method, the different narratives of the path traveled by political science are synthesized, inserting as a methodological variant its relationship with political economy. It is concluded that political science has become a protoscience of economics. To walk with feet of steel, political science needs its own methodological focus and autonomy from instrumental economics: it has to be consequentialist, rather than relying on unintended consequences.

Palabras clave : protoscience; methodological dispersion; methodological precaution; methodological autonomy; democratic urgency.
