Revisiting the linguistic studies conducted by Juan Marinello, thirty years after his death, would mean recognizing his significant contributions to the realm of linguistics. This paper briefly examines some of these contributions, among them, the linguistic analysis of prose works by José Martí, and the conceptualization of some Cuban expressions. His Guacalito de cubanismos (Little Crate of Cuban Expressions), along with the Diccionario provincial (Provincial Dictionary) by Esteban Pichardo, and Catauro de cubanismos (Basket of Cuban Expressions) by Fernando Ortiz, are works that defend Cuban Spanish.
