Resumen

MEDINA, Roberto. Millennium III. Present dilemmas of the civilization. Reflections on some aspects regarding contemporary culture. UH [online]. 2019, n.288, pp. 353-370.  Epub 01-Sep-2019. ISSN 0253-9276.

Since the beginning of the new millennium, globalization and fragmentation topics have caused acute academic debates. It is fearfully considered that globalization processes wreck the identities, generating resistance phenomena. Both actually respond to the way in which civilizing forces appear. They mutually demand to be necessary and interdependent, conforming an indissoluble unity of action. As they have always been there throughout history, what is new is the length those changes have reached. This can actually cause the development of a pluralistic society where fragments become preponderant. They are determined, not going back in their identity respect, which is related to the breakthrough of emerging forces. On the other hand the mechanisms creating the globalizing structures confirm their confrontation or have modified their force and the way to exercise power. Both are declared in their new way of acting, regarding many aspects connected to art, culture, and society. The purpose of the immanent intention of the globalization action in the new millennium is to go above the international scale, to understand the globe. The final issue is to form the human society as a global entity. Working at a macro-scale, it should be opened to its own restructuring. That is where fragments intercede as an essential part; which is not exempt from tensions and has no definitive forms.

Palabras clave : globalization; fragmentation; global entity.
