The article analyzes how, as the second decade of this century draws to a close, Latin America and the Caribbean, once again in the history of its relations with the United States, acquire a renewed importance within a logic of continuity and change that is consubstantial with the system of continental domination imposed by imperialism for nearly two hundred years. It is also deepened in the policy applied towards the region by the current North American government of Donald Trump, who gathers as a geopolitical harvest the change achieved by the strategy of his predecessor in the correlation of forces of the left and the right, aimed at achieving in the 21st century the objectives early declared by Barack Obama of renewing leadership, recovering confidence and deepening the influence of the United States in the Latin American and Caribbean sphere.
