Introduction: Aging process has been much accelerated in Cuba involving increasing demands of health care to elderly and the need of considering the gender approach to achieve better components to establish health policies. Objective: To identify the major noted of health care of population aged 60 or more from a gender perspective. Methods: A cross-sectional and descriptive study was conducted in health area from the "Leonilda Tamayo Matos" Polyclinic in Isla de la Juventud municipality by survey in a stratified randomized sample including 400 persons of both sexes. Results: Family physicians and nurses care was lacking of systematization and of little availability of instructors for care to activities of elderly. Highlighted is the care need to those people living alone, not-meet health lack, as well as the insufficiencies in disease follow-up, considerations of health actions independently of the sex. Conclusions: There are health care features to this population that must to be improved, and yet there are significant aspects to solve. In health care are not gender differences.
