The cotion of Achyrantes aspera (20% p/v) administred in doses of 200, 400 and 800 mg 7kg of body through oral via to wistar rats crused a significant in creasing in the volume of orine eliminated (p<00.5, p<00.1) as well as excretion of electrolites (sodium and potasium) (p,0.01) in doses of 400 and 800 mg/kg of body weigth. The diuretic effect of coction was compared with hydrochlorothyazide which was administred 25 mg/kg of body weight through oral via.
