A descriptive, longitudinal and applied study was carried out, with a universe composed of 31 patients, who asssisted to the Maxilloacial Surgery service to the at "Manuel Ascunce Domenech" Provincial Teaching Hospital of Camagüey. They presented a volume increase in the cervical region; from January to December, 1999. Tumors of thyroids and acute septic processes were excluded. Data collected from the clinic and applied ultrasonagraphy to all correlatec among each other and with histologic reult, chosen as reference, a system, which confirmed diagnostic methods studied; and new diagnostic models are preposed. Diagnostic ultrasonography presented a sensibility of 90 %, specificity 91.18 %, predictive valores positive and negative of 81,82 % and 95.65 %, respectively. And efficiency of 91.18 %. Cobination of ome clinical characteritics with ultrasonographic variable showed diagnostic efficiency of 100 %.
