Background: educational actions are carried out in all the units of the health national system and the stomatologist of the future should emphasize in the preventive measures of significant covering, promoters of recovery of the parts of the sick human body. Objective: to determine the educational effectiveness of a folding proposed for self-care of the temporomandibular apparatus pain-dysfunction syndrome. Method: a longitudinal, prospective investigation to 60 patients suffered by the temporomandibular apparatus pain-dysfunction syndrome. Results: patients with light affection didn't present signs at the end of the study, symptoms like the muscular fatigue prevailed, pain, symptomatological range of the syndrome diminished. Conclusions: the folding was effective for the self-care of the temporomandibular apparatus pain-dysfunction syndrome.
