Objective: To determine the anesthetic morbidity and mortality of elderly undergoing a cholecystectomy by laparoscopy elective surgery. Method: A longitudinal and prospective study was conducted in 104 patients during a period of 36 months. Orotracheal general anesthesia was administered with induction of 0,05 mg/kg midazolam, 3-5 mg/kg thiopental or 2,5 mg/kg 0,1 mg/kg/dose propofol and vecuronium bromide. PAM, FC and ECG behavior was assessed as well as the intraoperative analgesic requirements. All patients were classified according to ASA. Results: Extreme ages were 60 and 62 years (x = 72 years). The was predominance of female sex in all ages (94,2%). The more frequent coexisting diseases were the cardiovascular ones (40.3%), EPOC, asthma and chronic bronchitis associated with smoking. There were cardiovascular intraoperative complications (57.6%). Most of intraoperative complications (69.5%) were present after the first hour.
