The following work presents the process of elaboration of a quantitative instrument applied to teachers of a Colombian university. For its preparation, the social importance of knowing their ICT knowledge was taken into account, in order to improve the conditions and provide better virtual teaching processes to the educational community. The main objective was to create an instrument that allows to measure the levels of digital competence of the professors of the Universidad del Atlántico (University of the Atlantic), by means of a questionnaire with a Likert-type scale which underwent an analysis of evaluation by experts, a pilot test and factor analysis. Finally, the results obtained from the creation of the instrument to its validation and application to the institution's teachers are presented.
