ROSAS-HUERTA, Edna Dolores et al. Hydrodynamic study and determination of the operating times of an offshore support vessel. Ingeniería Mecánica [online]. 2022, vol.25, n.3, pp. 33-39. Epub 20-Dic-2022. ISSN 1815-5944.
Offshore maritime operations depend on weather conditions. One of the most important factors for marine operations are the prevailing weather conditions, each operation has limits in terms of wave height, tide, current speed and winds. In this work, the periods of time of operation or workability of an offshore support vessel type OSV (Offshore Support Vessels) in the Gulf of Mexico (GOM) were obtained, carrying out a hydrodynamic study, considering metocean data of waves, winds and tides at the location of the ship and operational limits of the equipment for the continuous service of the ship, such as the Dynamic Positioning System, Deck Crane and the six degrees of freedom personnel access gangway. It was considered that the ship can provide services to the fixed platform in two locations, South and West. The hydrodynamic response movements of the vessel were determined for each sea state of interest, comparing results with the operational limits, thus identifying the favorable and unfavorable values that contribute to the workability of the vessel for the months of January to April 2019. The percentage of workability was determined by identifying the frequencies with favorable conditions.
