Resumen
ALBIZU-CAMPOS ESPINEIRA, Juan Carlos. Recent dynamics of mortality in Cuba. Rev Nov Pob [online]. 2015, vol.11, n.22, pp. 0-0. ISSN 1817-4078.
Although the Cuban population completed a rapid process of demographic transition, in general, and of mortality, in particular, the 1970s and 1980s witnessed the stagnation of the improvements in survival capacity of the population, with the noticeable exception of the infant group, whose mortality continue to decline. That was de genetic agent of the sustained reductions of the life expectancy at birth in both sexes during the following decennia, while the harsh economic and social crisis of those years was instrumental asthe acceleration factor of such recession in life span. What happened in recent years with the Cuban mortality pattern and which elements can be pinpointed as the probable determinants of the subsequent changes, are the questions to be answered.
