Resumen

Immersed in the self-assessment process of Miguel Enríquez Faculty of Havana Medical Sciences University, the non-existence of a Quality Management System that would contribute to achieving excellence in its substantive processes, was verified. How to implement such a system? With the use of historical-logical scientific research methods, documentary analysis, system approach and modeling, a Research Project was developed that had as its objective the development of a methodology for the execution of a Management System of quality in college. Its approval in the Scientific Council and implementation have provided various results, including: An operational strategy for the institutional self-assessment process; Scientific publications in journals of groups I and II; A system of topics for teachers guides with a view to the preparation of students in content related to quality; A procedure to self-assess teaching departments, in accordance with the standards established by the National Accreditation Board. The methodology, which was carried out with the effective performance of all the participants involved, is fully complied with, according to its programmed stages and the research tasks that are carried out for its fulfillment. It is a flexible structure, constantly renewed and adapted to the current context.
