This article deals with the scarce tourist diversity of Pinar del Río and its image as a cultural tourist destination from the perception of the ecotourists who visit the territory. The tourist development of Pinar del Río has historically been based on nature tourism, which is why cultural tourism is proposed as an alternative. The interest in the province as a cultural destination in a segment of the international market is analyzed. A questionnaire is also applied to ecotourists from some countries and the results are contrasted with studies on this subject in Havana. Finally, the advantages and disadvantages of the destination are shown, indicating that the international market perceives Pinar del Río as a cultural destination. In this way, the offer and promotion should be oriented according to these expectations, which would improve tourist diversity and be an alternative for the local development of the province.
