Introduction:

the mastery of periodontal medicine by doctors is essential to guarantee the development of an assistant practice more integrative.

Objective:

to apply an educational intervention on periodontal medicine to doctors from Previsora Policlinic at Camagüey municipality in the period from September 2020 to March 2023.

Methods:

from a universe of 68, the sample was integrated by 45 general doctors from Previsora Policlinic. It was used a non-probabilistic study and a quasi-experimental study with participatory action was carried out, to raise the level of knowledge of the doctors from Previsora Policlinic at Camagüey municipality in relation to periodontal medicine. The data was processed using the statistical program SPSS 21,0.

Results:

in the study sample, first degree specialist in general medicine predominated, the absence of teaching category and more than 11 years of professional experience prevailed. Regarding the level of knowledge, the vast majority were poorly informed. Risk of pre-term labor and the low birth weight were the most known topics, ignorance prevailing in many of them. The satisfied staff prevailed regarding the implemented course.

Conclusions:

the low level of Knowledge of the participants about periodontal medicine was diagnosed and the educational intervention strategy managed to reverse this situation. Prevailed the staff satisfied with the course taught.
