Resumen

ALVARADO-CHACON, Roberto Enrique; VILEMA-VIZUETE, Elizabeth Germania; GUEVARA-GUAMAN, Valeria Kasandra  y  CUELLO-FREIRE, Guadalupe Eduviges. Role of the nursing staff in the care of the adolescent pregnant woman. Rev Ciencias Médicas [online]. 2023, vol.27, n.6  Epub 01-Nov-2023. ISSN 1561-3194.

Introduction:

adolescent mothers, as well as their pregnancy, are considered a public health problem worldwide, since in most cases this has a negative impact on the health of the adolescent, the unborn child and the child.

Objective: to describe the role of nursing in the care of young pregnant women.

Methods:

a literature review was conducted using the descriptive documentary review methodology through the SciELO and Scopus databases and university repositories, published in Spanish and English, between 2017 and 2022.

Development:

it was found that there are studies on the subject of adolescent mothers, but many only address pregnancy and its context, few take into account the context of the mother with her child and self-care. Adolescent pregnancy and early motherhood, as well as the maternal role, are important social problems that will arise in the life trajectory of thousands of adolescents.

Conclusions:

the nurse should promote, through health education, aspects related to adolescent pregnancy, care, self-care and complications both during pregnancy and the postpartum period, as well as empowering the mother in the care she should provide to her newborn.
