An Observational descriptive study of cross section was made, with the objective of establishing Arterial Hypertension and obesity behaviour in groups of persons over 60 years old who live in Monsignor Briceño, Cardenas Municipality, Táchira State, Venezuela. In the period from January 2006 to February 2007. The object of study was designed to investigate 152 persons. The descriptive variables were given in percents. Chi Square statistic method was used to compare two variables with a 0.05 margin of error. Results from this study have shown a 29.61 % of Pre-High Blood Pressure and a 58.55 % of Arterial Hypertension persons. On examination there is evidence that normal weight individuals are most likely with High Blood Pressure of 26.97 %. There were also a significant amount of persons with rich of suffering hypertension according to their waist circumference and those with High Blood Pressure; however wait hip index was not relevant.
