Institutions of higher education must take a series of measures to bear the many challenges that society demands in the field of initial and postgraduate education. The postgraduate education has to play a key role for attaining sustainability of academic programs. Universities have seen, in recent times, the evaluation as one process needed to improve their academic graduate programs. The System of Assessment and Accreditation of Masters of the National Accreditation Committee, in Cuba, has promoted the need to consider the impact of these programs as a way to meet the expectations of society. In this work some strategies to the Assessment of the impact of the Mastery Degree in Education Program at the University of Cienfuegos are present with the aim of achieving the sustainable change. A characterization of the structure of the mastery program provides the fundamental that underpin the role of research as a linchpin of the curriculum with modular conception, some details about the process of learning assessment. Some important results achieved during the twenty years of its implementation are discussed.
