Adolescence is one of the most critical periods for the development of self-esteem. Therefore it is important to train the family and the educational institutions to be able to face risk situations and to create protective resources of psychological and social correction in teenagers. The main objective of this work is to relate some elements linked to self-esteem and gender focus of adolescents as well as the work of the socialization agencies in its stimulation. A theoretical descriptive study is carried out to appraisal the importance of this psychological configuration for this age group. The results of the analysis are related to the proposal of some teaching procedures for its strengthening to facilitate the achievement of a teens´ positive esteem and to reinforce the elements of auto reference in those that are formed as teachers, so that they work on the development of their own self-esteem to be able to stimulate their pupils´.
