Currently higher education isaffected by the almost massive lack of interest on the part of its students. They need to be more involved in their training process, so teachers must seek the ways and resources that are within their reach to reverse this phenomenon. Teachers of the Information Sciences career at the Central University "Marta Abreu" of Las Villas must explore new methodologies and make greater use of ICT, to stimulate academic content in order to promote learning and generate new experiences. The research aims to characterize gamification as a strategy for the training of professionals in Information Sciences through ICT. Documentary analysis and document review wereused as methods and techniques. The application of gamification, as an active methodology, through ICT can provide the information professional with new tools to promote autonomous learning.
