The research focuses on determining the training needs of teachers to direct the teaching-learning process of Language and Literature in students. Currently, the academic training of teachers is general and both the time and the economic as well as the training programs do not guarantee that what they learned in Language and Literature resources can be executed in the communicational development. From a quantitative methodology, it is developed a descriptive investigation that allows to analyze and interpret the documentation. It also helps to develop the state of the art on the subject under investigation and its implementation in the academic field. In addition, a questionnaire was used as an instrument validated by experts and its reliability by Cronbach's Alpha, whose result was 0.882. It is concluded that there is a need for teacher training in Language and Literature where teachers develop their own competencies in this area and have the ability to guarantee meaningful learning in their students.
