The training of students in dentistry must be a process of constant updating in the various techniques that are applied in this science. The use of fluoride varnish is currently considered one of the most effective preventive dental measures in recent times due to its excellent adherence and retention of fluoride on the dental surface that prevents the appearance, development, and chronicity of dental diseases. The objective of the research was to establish some actions to be carried out with the students within the educational teaching process, regarding the study, application, and benefits of the application of fluoride varnish in pediatric patients through a bibliographic review. A qualitative, applied, descriptive methodology was used that included original articles, reviews, publications, and reports found in important databases. As results of the bibliographic search, 53 articles with scientific quality were found, published in the period 2017-2021. The bibliographic review concludes that fluoride varnish is one of the most effective ways to prevent caries and dental demineralization in children, but that it is not without adverse effects in some cases, so its study by dental students It is essential from the conduct of activities by teachers and health specialists.
