PLACERES HERNANDEZ, José Fernando et al. Induction course for the Family and Community Medicine postgraduate professors in Guayas, Ecuador. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.3, pp. 22-37. ISSN 2077-2874.

Background: the training projects should be oriented to improve the professional competences of the professors, as a manner to cope with the commitment of quality that university education demands at present. Objective: to design an induction course that contributes to elevate the teaching competences of the Family and Community Medicine postgraduate professors of the second cohort. Methods: it was carried out a development investigation in the period from July to October 2015. Theoretical and empiric methods were used. For the design of the course was kept in mind the experts´ criteria including professors with more than 20 years of experience in the primary health care and in higher medical teaching. Results: aspects that are of little knowledge for the Cuban teaching doctors who are responsible with the teaching of the Family and Community Medicine postgraduate course were selected in the normative documents revised, which are necessary for the work that the graduates of the second cohort will carry out; it was stated that the specialists in Comprehensive General Medicine are predominant, most of them have the teaching rank of Assistant professors and more than 10 years of post registration experience. An induction course was designed whose objectives and contents contribute to eradicate the deficiencies found. Conclusions: the designed course facilitates the steady formation and updating of the contents what strengthens the competences of the professors. It was satisfactorily assessed by the experts' criteria, taking into account its pertinence and scientific importance.
