GUILLEN ESTEVEZ, Anselmo Leonides; CANIZARES ESPINOSA, Yamiley; CONTRERAS VIDAL, Jorge Luis  y  CABRERA SUAREZ, Mayra Esther. Assessment of integrative teaching assignments for the study of physics in Health Technology. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2016, vol.8, n.4, pp. 162-174. ISSN 2077-2874.

Background: the main motivation of the Health Technology career students to study physics is linked to its relationship with biomedical content. Objective: to assess the implementation of integrative teaching assignments to encourage motivation for the study of physics students in the careers of Health Technology. Methods: a pre-experimental study was carried out the Health Technology faculty at Villa Clara University of Medical Sciences. Theoretical methods were used, historical and logical, analysis-synthesis and inductive-deductive and empirical ones, document analysis, survey and observation to classes at two researching moments. Results: the study of physics is taught to all Health Technology careers, without any link between the contents and the specialties. Teachers do not always consider this peculiarity and sometimes obviate that student motivation is related to career studying; meanwhile, students declare they don't feel motivated by physics, because the contents are generalized and lack experience to integrate them into their specialty. Teaching assignments were applied to assess their effectiveness in the aspects: involvement, perseverance and satisfaction to achieve the intended result. Conclusions: the application of teaching assignments demonstrated their effectiveness in improving academic outcomes, contributed to form a particular idea about how to integrate physical phenomena to their profile, where motivation is enhanced and student's learning is strengthened.
