LEYVA SANCHEZ, Elizabeth Katiuska; DIAZ ROJAS, Pedro Augusto y VICEDO TOMEY, Agustín. Main needs of teacher preparation for the management of the teaching process. EDUMECENTRO [online]. 2023, vol.15 Epub 30-Ene-2023. ISSN 2077-2874.
Background:
the management of the teaching process requires the preparation of teachers in certain areas of knowledge.
Objective:
to diagnose the preparation needs of the professors of the Medicine degree for the management of the teaching process.
Methods:
a descriptive investigation was carried out at the Holguín Faculty of Medical Sciences from September 2021 to February 2022. Theoretical methods were applied: historical-logical, analysis-synthesis and induction-deduction; and empirical, documentary review and questionnaire to teachers.
Results:
the teachers considered that several areas of knowledge need attention in their preparation to favor the management of the teaching-learning process. They stand out in order of priority: pedagogy and didactics, methodological work, language, use of information and communication technologies and scientific research; the first three were the most heartfelt regardless of their teaching categories. Some alleged deficiencies in the knowledge of governing documents, and management methods and techniques, which directly contribute to their comprehensive training and the quality of teaching.
Conclusions:
the perception of the teachers of the cognitive areas deficient to fulfill the managerial function confirmed that the teaching-methodological preparation of the faculty requires priority attention.
