The professionalization of university teachers from a concept of process is a requirement that becomes social development, while ensuring quality in professional performance and is expressed as a result of a process of continuous training from a high theoretical preparation of science taught and conceptions of teaching. From this perspective it is designed at the Metropolitan University of Ecuador, Teaching Career Program, as part of institutional policies for the development and continuity of the cloister. In this paper the criteria relating to the process of professionalization and expression addressed in the Metropolitan University, depending on the needs of each teacher; processes that arise from the formation of a competent professional who meets the requirements and needs of the current educational context; the development of a faculty of excellence associated with the rise of academic and teacher training.
