CUENCA DIAZ, Maritza; ANDINO HERRERA, Alexandra  y  PADRON ZARDUA, Tania. Oral communicative competence in the training of lawyers: results of a diagnosis and actions for its development. Universidad y Sociedad [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp. 199-209.  Epub 02-Mar-2018. ISSN 2218-3620.

The oral communicative competence is the main instrument for the successful performance of lawyers. Precisely the General Organic Code of COGEP Process establishes orality in all judicial processes. It indicates the importance of reviewing the training processes of these professionals from this perspective. Since the 1950s, the communication studies have shown the need to consider it from the verbal and non-verbal integration perspective. However, the training of lawyers has not always been based on studies that reveal the methodological procedure to allow facing their training from this perspective, which is manifested not only in the curricular conception that guides this process, but also in the way in which it’s implemented. In this sense, the main objective of the research lies in proposing a pedagogical strategy aimed at perfecting the development of oral communicative competence in the career of law. Theoretical and practical methods have been used that in the first instance revealed the necessity of the study and allowed the projection of actions based on metacognitive and reflexive procedures so that both teachers and students become aware of the need .to deliberately project in the exercise of the oral legal discourse the verbal and non-verbal integration as a basic requirement to fulfill its argumentative and persuasive function.

Palabras clave : Communicative competence; professional training in law; orality; verbal and non-verbal signs.
